Survivorship was started in 1999 and since inception has been active in raising awareness about breast cancer and supporting individuals with breast cancer in the South Okanagan.
We have donated almost $60,000 s to the South Okanagan Similkameen Medical Foundation for the David Kampe Tower, mammography department and equipment for the operating room used for breast cancer surgery. We support the oncology unit at the Penticton Regional Hospital and Tomorrow’s Hope, a volunteer driven peer support group for people diagnosed with breast cancer.
We raise awareness about breast cancer by participating in the parade at Peach Fest in Penticton and by being a visible presence whenever and wherever we volunteer.
Survivorship is a very active team has participated in dragon boat festivals around the world. We have paddled in Australia, New Zealand, Florida, Italy, Los Vegas, Vancouver, and in many local dragon boat festivals. And of course we participate in our own Penticton Dragon Boat Festival in September of each year.
